Keynote session: Lung/gut microbiome interactions of respiratory infectionsQueen's University Belfast
Dr Gisli Einarsson (PhD) is a research fellow at the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queens University Belfast with 10 years post-PhD research experience focusing on microbiology, molecular biology and bioinformatics with a key focus on large-scale genomic data from bacteria observed in chronic respiratory diseases such as cystic fibrosis, non-CF bronchiectasis and COPD. The main research interests are around the resident microbiota of complex communities (microbiome studies based on marker-gene sequencing), comprehensive community analysis using shotgun-metagenome sequencing (metagenomics), whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of bacterial strains found in chronic infections and resistome analysis (phenotypic traits from extended-culture and genotypic traits from WGS data).
